Distribution System:
IEC’s distribution system includes 26,328 km of medium voltage lines, 20,161 km of low voltage lines and 46,848 distribution transformers. All the projects are performed in-house by company employees serving its 2.56 million customers. The average unsupplied minutes per customer for 2012 were 165 minutes. IEC plans to reduce this gradually to 100 minutes.

Smart Grid:
Israel faces a unique energy challenge stemming from a closed isolated electricity market but is also a “start-up nation” and an incubator for technological innovation.
The IEC stands at the global forefront in electricity management, control and monitoring systems such as: EMS (Energy Management System), DMS (Distribution Management System), NIS (Network Information System) and Smart Metering; linking all these systems from the power station to the consumer. This facilitates the company’s ability in managing production and infrastructure resources with increased efficiency and reliability while improving customer service and maintaining sustainability.
As part of the IEC strategy for achieving its overall business targets, IEC is leading an innovative project including the installation of new meters and control systems in the area of Binyamina which are connecting home and businesses to a metering management center.
